Expecting an entirely innocuous event TS was recently at the 21st birthday party of the Association of Accounting Technicians and heard president David Hunt, thank treasury secretary Paul Boateng for hosting the night’s festivities.
However as the minister was nowhere to be seen, Hunt added: ‘Unfortunately, the minister has been “derailed” by transport minister Stephen Byers’ speech in Commons.’
A grinning Boateng appeared soon after. Upon being told of Hunt’s earlier wisecrack the quick-witted MP, not to be outdone, retorted: ‘I can happily report that everything is very much back on track.’ If only life were as easy at Railtrack.
