Recruiter accidentally leaked details of 3,000 accounting and IT contractors

AN ACCIDENTAL email leak has revealed that RBS is using more than 3,000 accounting, finance and IT contractors.

An email containing the details of the 3,000 contractors was accidentally sent by an employee of recruiters Hays, reported The Times. Some of the contractors were being paid £2,000 daily rates. The email was sent to 800 staff at RBS.

The higher-than-normal amount of contractor usage was due to the bank winding down toxic loans and preparing non-core businesses for sale, according to reports.

Shadow treasury minister Chris Leslie said the consultants were not only expensive, but “clearly substitutes” for full-time employees.

RBS said it was extremely disappointed that the information had come from its supplier.

Hays said it took the leak very seriously, that it had apologised to RBS and that it had launched an internal investigation.
